When trying to move an online WPAR from one AIX system to another, make sure that the CPU type on the source and target system is the same. Otherwise, the relocation will fail.
This is a requirement for all relocatable WPARs with AIX 6.1. It is possible to relocate them from POWER% to POWER5 and from POWER6 to POWER6 - even with different frequencies (e.g. 3.5 GHz to 4.2 GHz). You will not be allowed to relocate a WPAR from POWER5 to POWER6 or vice versa. |
